Every workplace has its own set of rules and regulations formulated by the human resources (HR) department and employees sometimes complain about some of the restrictions being too harsh. A man from Mumbai recently shared on Reddit how his office banned the use of headphones during work hours and he found the restriction unreasonable.
“HRs of Mumbai, what are your thoughts on this? I am pretty annoyed,” the Reddit user with the username chinmaysonlyfans wrote and shared a screenshot of the notice.
“Hello Everyone, We’ve noticed that many of you are using headphones while working. Unfortunately, this means that you don’t have your full attention on the task at hand and we’ve seen a dip in the quality of work that is being completed. Our clients have also raised issues with us regarding deadlines not being met and tasks not being finished on time. We kindly ask everyone refrains from using headphones while working to ensure that productivity remains at its highest level. This will help us stay on track with our client’s expectations as well as meet our own deadlines,” the notice read.

Many people agreed with the user and found the restriction unreasonable. “People who use headphones to actually focus on work and ignore nearby colleague banter/timepass would be crying in corner,” commented a user. This is nothing, I worked at a firm and the boss there saw some of the employees using insta in free time so he made a rule that every morning he will come and collect everyone’s phone and keep it in a tray and they will get it back only at lunchtime and after work hours. Backfired horribly,” another user shared.
