The rapid adoption of Generative AI, the emergence of a new blended workforce of humans and digital workers, and rising employee fear of being obsolete (FOBO) all demonstrate what Intel co-founder Gordon Moore (and the author of Moore’s Law) change has never been this fast and will never be this slow ever again
Resilience, adaptability, and a “test and learn approach” will be the winning techniques in 2024.
In 2024, Generative AI will revolutionize how we think about work and what we delegate to our new “work buddy.” This year will be the year of specialized AI-powered assistants working alongside humans. Teachers will receive a homework grading copilot, such as Class Companion. Architects will receive an AI design helper, SketchPro, and online learners at Kahn Academy will have access to Kahnmigo to help with ideation, allowing them to become better writers and learners while reducing a teacher’s administrative labor.
Walmart introduced My Assistant, one of the largest AI-powered work pals, to help Walmart’s 50,000 corporate employees be more productive in summarizing long papers, creating fresh content, and taking over ordinary activities that people used to accomplish. Microsoft’s Co-Pilot, which will be available shortly, will incorporate generative AI into Microsoft 365, allowing employees to perform at a much higher level. Microsoft Corporate Vice President Jared Spataro believes that Microsoft Co-Pilot will convert meetings from a point in time and location to a knowledge object. This means that employees using Microsoft Co-Pilot will not only be able to write a summary of the meeting, but will also be able to utilize Co-Pilot to query the group’s attitude on the meeting topic, the disagreeing viewpoints, and who the dissenting opinions are.
